Take Action Today to Protect Public Media

For every $100 of federal spending, public broadcasting receives just a penny.

President Trump’s budget proposal threatens federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which funds the nation’s public broadcasting system including KLRU-TV, Austin PBS.

What does this mean for KLRU?

  1. 1 Loss of $1.7 million in annual revenue (or 12% of our budget).
  2. 2 Increased production costs that would impinge our ability to create local programs like Austin City Limits, Overheard with Evan Smith, and Central Texas Gardener.
  3. 3 Loss of funding to support KLRU’s extensive educational outreach.
  4. 4 Potential loss of national programming such as Independent Lens, NOVA, and Frontline to name a few.
  5. 5 Increased costs for station to operate.
  6. 6 Loss of independent journalism.

You can make a difference, and now is the time to take action.

Here are four ways you can show your support.
